Predictable Soft Tissue Models

Creating soft tissue models for implant restorative work can be very simple and predictable.  A staff member can easily accomplish this lab work once trained.  In the past, some of the problems that would present include the following:

-  Teeth that break off when separating the stone from the impression

-  Bubbles and voids in the stone (often in critical areas)

-  Soft tissue material that tears, is not dimensionally stable, and not accurate

A couple products that I personally use to make this process easier are:

-  ALGIN X ULTRA (Dentsply): This is an accurate injectable alginate substitute that is less expensive than VPS, less tears and bubbles than conventional alginate, and is dimensionally stable allowing you to pour/repour up to 14 days after the impression.

-  GINGIFAST (Zhermack): I have found this soft tissue material to be particularly stable and accurate for my gingiva reproduction

There are many alternative products that work well for this process.  I thought I would share what has been predictable and easy for me and my staff.
