CEREC Etching Tool

In the CEREC process we need to prepare the ceramic properly for bonding once the restoration is milled and polished or glazed. Ceramics are etched with an acid for a determined amount of time based on the material and strength of the acid etch. Rinsing the etch off of a small restoration can be slightly challenging. Many a crown has been lost down the drain when rinsing over a sink. One product that I have used since I began my CEREC journey many years ago is the Etch Ease. It is a three part device that attaches to a high volume suction line. It allows for total rinsing of the ceramic without the risk of losing it. The plastic mesh at the device’s base supports the restoration during the rinsing process. The device is very cost effective and should be part of every CEREC Doctor’s armamentarium.
