HOW TO TELL EARLY IF YOU NEED TO CHANGE A CEREC BLOCK SIZE

A great tip from cerecdoctors.com Mentor Fred Giombolini

We only Stock e-max size 14 blocks in our office to save on inventory and possibly use one block for two restorations. When you get to the adjust Mill Phase of treatment you need to go to change block size to see if it is a 12 and then change it to a 14. What is worse is when you forget and click on start milling and see it wants a 12. You then have to abort the mill and go back to the Change Block Size.  It seems like this happens when I have hygiene checks waiting, babies crying, and office mayhem. There is an easy way to tell if you need to change your block size in the Adjust Mill Position Phase.

When the block is below the outline of the mandrel, it is a size 12 block and you need to go to change block size to make it a size 14.

In this case the block covers the whole circumference of the mandrel so it is a size 14. Go straight to Start Milling. Perhaps someday we will be able to set block defaults. Until then I hope this saves a little time.
